Who we are

About Alexandra Asset Management

Alexandra Asset Management (AAM) is a South African investment group based in Greenstone Hill, Johannesburg. It was founded by Luthando Maduna CA(SA) to do one thing: give ordinary people a real way to own a share of the economy around them.

Most people spend money every day in shops, petrol stations and buildings they will never own. The profit leaves their community. We want to change that. Through our group, people can get proper financial advice, invest in regulated funds, and share in the value of property and businesses where they live and shop.

The name of this firm is attached to a mission. Alexandra Asset Management works under #ChangeAlexNow: the belief that an investment firm which intends to transform communities has to be intentional about where it puts its effort. We dedicate ours to the communities of Alexandra, next to Sandton.

Our attempt is to lead society, our partners and key stakeholders across the continent to address the social injustice and the loss of dignity that keeps millions of Africans from the boardrooms where agendas are set. We do not claim to do this alone, and we do not promise outcomes we cannot control. What we hold ourselves to is discipline — projects that are properly planned, capital that is raised transparently, and participation opened to people who have been left out of it.

Our flagship programme is the proposed New City of Alexandra, the first step in a wider vision of 100 Inclusive African Cities. The R500 billion figure is a proposed capital target over time, not money already raised.

Our philosophy

More people taking part makes investment stronger.

Traditional investments rely on a small number of large investors. When so few people have a stake, the risk is concentrated and local communities are left outside.

We built an inclusive system instead. When many people invest small amounts, the capital comes from a broad base. The community becomes the owner, the customer and the supporter of each development. In our view, this broad participation helps reduce the risk of the solutions we build.

Inclusion is not charity, and it is not a cost. It is how we make investment more resilient.
